Quote of the Month:
"Animation offers a medium of story telling and visual entertainment which can bring pleasure and information to people of all ages everywhere in the world."
Walt Disney

When I think of a new version of anything, I always look to see if it is truly a breakthrough or simply a "face lift" with few true changes. I will start off by saying V2 of Animation Mentor is truly a 100% improvement from the ground up. If you have followed Animation Mentor to date, you will read and hear many great things about the school, how it fosters a very healthy online community and offers an online education experience that is second to none. But we all know there's always room for improvement, and here at Animation Mentor, we embrace that simple truth.
Growing up I was completely enamored by the "magic" of Disney's animated features. The first ones I saw and owned were Bambi and Dumbo. I fell in love with the characters and was astounded by the way my whole family could sit and watch the movies together.
I got the animation bug while working at a screen printing shop. I had to re-draw this character for a job we were doing for a game company. I remember thinking to myself how cool it was drawing this. I think at that moment I was hooked forever! Pixar had just made Toy Story and a light bulb went off in my head.
Welcome back to our little monthly Tips & Tricks article. I was thinking that since we've been talking a lot about the face and blinks already, maybe it'd be fun to switch gears entirely, and talk just a tiny bit about some acting/dialogue stuff. Specifically, the concept of operative words.
There are countless books out there on animation and software, but I found none that deal with the most difficult and subjective aspect of good animation and film and that is storytelling.
