2012 Winter Graduation
Students Took a Bow to Cap Off the Best Weekend Ever!
Have you ever had that moment? You know, that “pinch me/I can’t believe this is happening/don’t wake me up because I don’t want this to end” moment? For over 100 of our newest graduates, that moment arrived on Saturday, January 28, 2012, during the Animation Mentor 2012 Winter Graduation at the Cowell Theater: Fort Mason in San Francisco.
Family, friends, staff, mentors, alumni and special guests joined the 2012 Winter Graduation to complete a truly special celebration. Amid the woots, laughter and smiles, there was a sense of pride and accomplishment — of taking a giant step toward pursuing the animation dream.
It was a sentiment echoed by Simon Otto. The Head of Character Animation on How to Train Your Dragon captivated the newest graduates with his story. Otto reminded us that the pursuit of a dream is never to be taken lightly. Being around fellow students who came together in the journey — and then hearing of Otto’s similar path — proved to be inspirational in every way imaginable.
The festivities also honored 14 Student Choice Award winners. This coveted award — voted by peers and mentors — recognizes students who have excelled throughout the Character Animation Program. Wow, talk about the best weekend ever.
There’s no reason to stop the woots, laughter and smiles. To our newest graduates, we stand up and clap as loud as we can. Take a bow, you deserve it … and from all of us at Animation Mentor, we just have to say it again: CONGRATULATIONS!
