Although this quiz is fun and mostly tongue-in-cheek, we do want to highlight a few of the answers that we feel are essential to being a successful and great professional animator.
Question 1: When confronted with a challenging situation, do you:
Answer 1: c) Persevere and do your best to figure out how to resolve the situation
When on the road to becoming a professional animator and even when you feel that "you have arrived," challenges are going to crop up. Whether the challenge is a difficult animation assignment that you've been given or if it's the feeling of being overwhelmed because you feel you have no time, it's important for you to not give up, but rather to keep pushing forward, continue to do the best you can, figure out what you need to do to improve and then persevere in mastering your skills as an animator.
Question 5. How do you feel about working hard?
Answer 5. c) Working hard is important to being great at what you do
Becoming a professional animator is not always easy. It takes dedication and hard work. The goal of becoming an animator can be rewarding and fun, however, being the best, as in most things, takes time and some elbow grease.
Question 7. How do you react when you receive constructive criticism?
Answer 7. c) Really take in what was said to you and try to incorporate as much as you can to improve yourself and/or your work
Being able to receive criticism is essential as a professional animator. Peer feedback as well as feedback from a director or a mentor is how you learn to improve your skills and your animation. It's important to learn to really hear what someone is saying to you and then translate the key points into your animation.
And although it does take work, perseverance, and dedication to become a successful animator, remember to also have fun through the process. Happy animating!
