Siggraph 2005 is just around the corner and it would be great to see you there. This year's Siggraph is being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Following are some events we are doing while at the convention, so be sure to come by to say, "Hello!"



MONDAY, AUGUST 1st:

10:00 am - 12:00 pm: ANIMATION MENTOR GATHERING
Location: Los Angeles Convention Center, Room 511-C
This Birds of a Feather* event is an opportunity for us all to meet in person. For our current students, come meet some of your mentors and chat with your fellow classmates. For our students-to-be and those who are just curious, you're welcome too! Hang out, ask questions, and find out what AnimationMentor.com is all about.

*Birds of a Feather (BOF) is an attendee-organized meeting for individuals with shared interests, goals, technologies, environments, and backgrounds. It provides a casual atmosphere for people to meet, exchange ideas, and share information.



TUESDAY, AUGUST 2nd:

10:00 am - 4:00 pm: JOB FAIR
Location: Los Angeles Convention Center, Job Fair Exhibition Area, Booth #32
AnimationMentor.com will be located at Booth #32 in the job fair area on both days of the job fair (Tues, 8/2 and Wed, 8/3). Come visit us, ask questions, pick up some cool AnimationMentor.com shwag, and enter our raffle for a free prize!

2:30 pm - 3:30 pm: Live Q&A at the CGW Booth
Location: Los Angeles Convention Center, Exhibition Area, Booth #1906
Bobby Beck, Carlos Baena, and Shawn Kelly will be at the CGW Booth unveiling AnimationMentor.com's newest trailer and answering questions from the audience.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Reel FX Party
Location: Parking Lot on S. Figueroa between Venice and Pico across from the South Hall Convention Center
The party will be in the Reel FX Motor Home. Look for the Reel FX sign and the AnimationMentor.com sign/banner. Come mingle and party with us. See you there!

5:00 pm - 5:30 pm: PRESENTATION AT THE ALIAS BOOTH: MAXIMIZING YOUR ANIMATION WORKFLOW
Location: Los Angeles Convention Center, Exhibition Area, Booth #1312
AnimationMentor.com's CEO/Founder, Bobby Beck and mentor, Jason Schleifer will be doing a presentation at the Alias booth titled "Maximizing Your Animation Workflow." They will talk about how to get the most out of your blocking as well as some high level tips and tricks of the trade and tools they use to increase their workflow. Come check it out and see how AnimationMentor.com uses Maya to create rockin' CG animation.



WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3rd:

10:00 am - 4:00 pm: JOB FAIR
Location: Los Angeles Convention Center, Job Fair Exhibition Area, Booth #32

12:30 pm – 4:30 pm: CGCHAR @ SIGGRAPH EVENT
Location: Westin Bonaventure, Catalina Ballroom (404 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles)
Carlos Baena (AnimationMentor.com Co-Founder and Creative Director) will be speaking from 3:30 - 4:00 pm at this event. CGCHAR (http://cgchar.toonstruck.com/) is holding a half-day set of presentations that coincides with the 2005 Siggraph Conference in Los Angeles. Speakers include animators, supervisors, and directors from the studios of Disney, Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks, and Pixar Animation Studios. The subject matter is geared towards professionals working in or students preparing for a career in 3D CG character animation or character technical direction.

2:30 pm - 3:30 pm: PANEL DISCUSSION: TEACHING 3D ANIMATION ONLINE: THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE
Location: Los Angeles Convention Center,
Forum, Room 502B
Through the Educators Program Forum, our very own Shawn Kelly (AnimationMentor.com Co-Founder and Course Director) will be on a panel discussing the issues online animation schools face teaching the art of animation and what AnimationMentor.com has done to overcome those challenges.
