Animals & Creatures: Master Class Quick Facts

Animals & Creatures: Master Class is Animation Mentor's advanced course in animating non–human characters. Taught by leaders in the visual effects animation industry, this course focuses on animating quadrupeds and flying creatures, as well as effectively integrating animation with live–action footage. Students will use three new advanced rigs and match–move plates provided by Animation Mentor.

Animals & Creatures: Master Class is taught using Animation Mentor's signature mentor–based instruction.

What is a Master Class?

A Master Class is an advanced animation class that builds upon your understanding of the principles of animation, posing and body mechanics.

Who is Animals & Creatures for?

Animals & Creatures: Master Class is intended for Animation Mentor alumni and animators interested in telling a different story. Animation Mentor alumni and qualified new students (based on application and demo reel assessment) may enroll in the course.

What is the difference between Animals & Creatures: Master Class and the 18–Month Character Animation Program?

Animals & Creatures: Master Class focuses on a realistic style of animation compared with the Character Animation Program, which focuses on character acting and performance. Students of Animals & Creatures: Master Class will learn how to animate quadrupeds, flying animals and fantasy creatures based on an understanding of real–world animal movement. In addition, students learn how to integrate animation into live–action footage.

What degree or certificate is earned by completing the Animation Mentor Animals & Creatures: Master Class?

Students who complete both classes and earn a passing grade or better will receive a Certificate of Completion in Animal and Creature Animation approved by the California Bureau for Private Post-Secondary Education.
